Winter Daze

Ok, its been a few days since the last entry. Lots been goin' on. Vegas, now LA, soon home. Where to start....well, Viva Las Vegas for starters. We definitely enjoyed the 'City of Sin' - although I spent the whole time looking over my shoulder expecting joe Peschi to be there with his baseball bat from Casino (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0112641/)! The highlight had to be the live show "Love: A Tribute to the Beatles" by the Cirque de Soleil troupe (http://www.cirquedusoleil.com/CirqueDuSoleil/en/showstickets/love/intro/intro.htm?sa_campaign=internal_click/redirect/love). For those of you who Cirque de Soleil, it was another 'amazing' performance, for those of you don't know Cirque de Soleil....it was another 'amazing' performance...

We didn't win big at the casino (what!!!???) - in fact we essentially 'contributed' to the employee retirement fund at the Wynn Hotel...but hey we went down with a smile....definitely the coolest casino to drop a few dollars in. All round quite an adventure...some photos below.

New-Wave-Post-Deconstructionist-Multimedia-Zoetrope-Enabled-Mania

Last night we experienced the 'Blue Man Group' show - (http://www.blueman.com/) - a great interactive show, where yours truly was roped into 'joining the fun'...OK all I did was pull a lever which turned off all the lights in theatre (a nice set-piece)...nonetheless all my acting skills came to the fore.

Anyways, we're rounding up our time here in NYC, hard to believe we'll be packing our belongings and getting back "On the Road"...next stop Vegas!...We're gonna put all the money on black, whilst drinking a martini, whilst playing a hand of blackjack at the $100 table, whilst singing along to Celine Dion's live performance and writing in the "Get Well" book for Zigfried and Roy (Ziggy being the one who was mauled?)

"The Humour Mill"

Nic and I brought in the New Year with a laugh (literally) in true New York style, at the Gotham Comedy Club (http://www.gothamcomedyclub.com/). A great venue with a top atmosphere and fine, fine comedic acts. One thing that we've both noticed (being such connoisseurs of comedy)...is that many of the comedians in town are either Jewish, claim to be Jewish (huh?) or use Jewish references in their material (uh-huh). Of course, there are also many hilarious African-American, Italian-American and XX, YY, ZZ,-American comics (phew all the PC naming is wearing me out)....anyways, just interesting to note I thought.

New Year's Day is probably the quietest day in the city, with the noise emanating from the streets set down to 'Partially-Deaf'....- missing my tinnitus already- ...but its quite strange to see 6th, 7th and 8th avenues relatively empty of traffic, kinda like the scene at the beginning of Vanilla Sky, although none of the drivers have Tom Cruise's smug look...

2007 is the new 2006

You can feel the hype in the streets of Manhattan as the punters prepare to bring in 2007...additional garbage collection is scheduled, more overweight traffic copsmulling around, cheap diner's suddenly charging $25 for 'counter-meals', and about a million 'Middle-Americans' (if you get my drift) have converged on this city. We're gonna see a show tonight and maybe...just maybe look at braving the crowds towards mid-town....but we'll see how it goes. Either way, a great night ahead. Best to all for the new year ahead - N & Z
