I-Pods, Cigarettes and Coffee (or Cawwwffee)

Nic has made one of the most salient social observation so far (but of course, I have always said she's brilliant as well as beautiful). It seems New Yorkers (of all ages) are obsessed with their I-Pods (http://www.apple.com/ipod/ipod.html), cigarettes (http://www.rareads.com/scans1/30214.jpg) and coffee (and yes unfortunately we mean that kind of caawwffee: www.starbucks.com). Everywhere you turn, people are plugged-in, their brains addled on frappacino's as they splutter over what they swear is their "last cigarette ever". Well, we're certainly not smokers and Starbucks makes us hallucinate (Dunkin Donuts coffee is so much more refined...just jokes)...but the I-Pod...now that - we got down pat! So, I have created my 'West Village' walk playlist, including performances by Bruce Springsteen, The Ramones (will need the Tinnitus treatment after that one), Gil Scott-Heron, Bill Withers, Ben Folds Five and of course, the obligatory ditty's by Dylan and Bowie, all timed to perfection...

  • I thought u would be listening to your Big Apple classics:
Martika - toy soldiers, Tiffany, B*Witched (I know they are irish), Starship - we built this city on rock n roll, Grath Brooks, Roxette (Scanadanavian), Vanilla Ice, Ron Moss, etc...
u can both just stroll through the streets as if you sre in a film clip - perhaps try walking in slow motion for extra effect (anything played in slow mo to music somehow becomes emmotional)

  • Hey guys,

You know it is still killing me to hear about your New York adventures. Both Caroline and I wish we were there.

Zvi, I strongly recommend that you get the following for your NYC Ipod adventures - Television's 'Marquee Moon', Dion & The Belmonts Best Of (it'll make NYC seem like the set of The Wanderers), Isaac Hayes 'Hot Buttered Soul', Springsteen's 'Born To Run', and of course the soundtrack to Escape From New York.

Needless to say I am impressed with your selection of Gil Scot, Bill Withers, Dylan and Bowie. You never let me down.

Nic, I can't imagine what you would be listening to.

    Keep on enjoying guys.
